Football - West Bromwich Albion Reserves v Tottenham Hotspur Reserves Barclays Premier Reserve League South

Sunderland have turned to Tottenham Hotspur’s Alan Hutton as Steve Bruce continues his search for a new right-back.

However, Bruce may be hoping that the January window closes with Hutton on Wearside as a Sunderland player after he was previously linked with West Ham United.

Hutton has struggled to make an impact at White Hart Lane since his £9million move from Rangers two years ago and has been hampered by injury. (Sky Sports)

Harry Redknapp says he is prepared to let Roman Pavlyuchenko leave Tottenham Hotspur before the close of the transfer window.

Pavlyuchenko’s future at Spurs has been the subject of much debate in recent weeks, with the striker having not featured in the Premier League since October.

Birmingham City have failed with a bid for the Russia international and Alex McLeish suggested over the weekend that his interest was over following the 1-1 draw with Spurs.

However, the 28-year-old may yet secure a move away from White Hart Lane before the 5pm deadline after Redknapp confirmed he is willing to sell Pavlyuchenko.

Redknapp has previously been happy for the misfiring front-man to stay at the club, but is now open to his departure for the right price after adding Eidur Gudjohnsen to his squad.

“If it is the right deal for the club I am happy for him to go,” said Redknapp.

“He has been wanting to move for a while, but if he was to move I think it would be back to Russia.”

Pavlyuchenko joined Spurs from Spartak Moscow in the summer of 2008 and has been linked with a return to his former club, while Zenit St Petersburg showed an interest earlier in the transfer window. (Sky Sports)

So there you have it Alan Hutton and Roman Pavlyuchenko seem keen to be on their way out of White Hart Lane and Harry Redknapp has practically admitted that a decent offer for each will be accepted. You could argue that neither player has really had a chance to shine at Tottenham, either because injuries of poor form or simply because the queue in front of them consisted of talented players who had more to offer, but the fact remains that neither Hutton or Pavlyuchenko is likely to get a regular place in the starting line up any time soon and both players are of an age that requires them to play regular football otherwise their careers will continue to stutter.

I agree with Redknapp that Roman is far more likely to take a move back to Russia rather than moving to Birmingham, hell I would rather moving to Moscow than Brum for sure (no offence meant). Steve Bruce appears to like former Tottenham players and is collecting full backs in the manner in which we were some time ago and Alan could forge himself a career at the Stadium of Light.
