Benni McCarthy’s representative claims that Blackburn and West Ham have agreed a fee for the South African striker.
McCarthy has been keen to leave Blackburn and his representative has told Sky Sports News that an undisclosed fee has been agreed between the two clubs.
The 32-year-old, who has described a potential switch to Upton Park as a ‘dream move’, is now hoping to agree personal terms with the Hammers.
The former Ajax and Celta Vigo forward is ready for a fresh start having joined Blackburn from Porto for £2.5million in the summer of 2006.
He made a superb start in the Premier League, scoring 24 goals in his first season, before hitting 24 over the last two campaigns.

Sky sources understand West Ham are closing in on the signing of Brazilian striker Ilan.
Hammers co-owner David Sullivan had claimed over the weekend that West Ham were closing in on a mystery Brazilian and it appears St Etienne’s Ilan is the man in question.
Ilan is out of contract in the summer and St Etienne are believed to be willing to let him move on for a nominal fee.

What a difference a few weeks makes. Before Messrs Sullivan and Gold took over the Upton Park reins West Ham fans would have been worried that the transfer window would only involve their club’s top players being linked with moves away from the east London club and now they appear to be set to bring in some decent attacking talent to help bolster their chances of beating the drop.
Benni McCarthy is a striker who has shown what he is capable of in the Premier League but a lot depends on how he is handled by the club and how well he settles. Ilan is a player who in the past few years has had some success in France but could find that the Premier League may be beyond him but clearly Zola would have done his homework and may believe the Brazilian could finally fulfill the early promise that led him to win three international caps seven years ago.
