Mohamed Zidan was one of Egypt’s most brilliant players in their latest triumph in the African Cup of Nations.
The speedy Borussia Dortmund forward showed some silky moves in the tournament and scored a great goal against Algeria. Now his father claims some of Europe’s biggest sides are chasing his son.
“Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona have talked to Mohamed’s agent,” he told Dream TV.
The player’s father said that Zidan has a clause in his contract that enables him to complete a move to any of these clubs at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old striker has scored two goals for Dortmund this season and dished out several assists, creating a dangerous partnership with Lucas Barrios.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been linked with a number of striker in recent weeks following the long-term injury to Robin van Persie. Manchester United boss could also look to strengthen up front in the summer to give Wayne Rooney more support. (IMScouting)
There are some who believe that Mohammed Zidan has never quite lived up to his billing and that the Egyptian hasn’t manage to fulfill his early promise but that being said he has enjoyed the best part of five successful years in the Bundesliga but now appears ready for a new challenge.
Could that challenge be at the likes of the Emirates or Old Trafford? Well it would be a large jump from Borussia Dortmund to either Arsenal or Manchester United but such a move could still be a wise investment as the layout for the frontman would be minimal.
Zidan has been considered something of a showboat and has had continual run ins with his coaches over the years and at 29 he is desperate to progress and may feel that moving away from Dortmund essential in order to do so. The former Mainz, Hamburg and Werder Bremen man isn’t exactly prolific but does tend to create something from nothing and does weigh in with a decent number of assists that belie the much repeated claim that he is a very greedy player.
