Stoke City vs Arsenal FC

Barcelona vice-president Alfons Godall is convinced that Cesc Fabregas will come back to the club at some point in the future.

Fabregas progressed through the youth ranks at Camp Nou before signing for Arsenal in 2003.

He has developed into one of the finest midfielder in world football under Arsene Wenger and has always stressed that he is committed to the Gunners.

However, speculation over a return to Spain has never been far away despite the fact that Arsenal would fight hard to keep such an important player.

Real Madrid are understood to be interested in snapping up Fabregas but Godall expects him to end up at Barca.

Reports suggest the Catalan giants are planning a £40million summer swoop for the Spain international.

Godall, who hopes to succeed Joan Laportaas president, believes that even if Fabregas does not make the move at the end of this season he will one day return to Barcelona.

“Sooner or later Cesc will end up coming back,” Godall said in The Sun.

Oh here we go again. This time its a prospective Barcelona president who looks to further his reputation by claiming that Cesc Fabregas will leave the Emirates to join the Catalan giants sooner or later. This is a standard tactic of someone looking to land the top job at the Nou Camp, this tactic involves promising to land all and sundry in the hopes that it will lead to the candidate getting enough votes to secure the president’s position.

Its clear that UEFA will never do anything about this blatant attempt at tapping up. Can you imagine for instance if Arsene Wenger said in a statement “I know we will sign Wayne Rooney, sooner or later he will join us” the Premier League would slap a fine or some sort of ban within minutes and Sir Alex would quite rightly be miffed.

Cesc is going nowhere.

Montenegrin defender Stefan Savic claims he has agreed a deal to join Arsenal in the summer after snubbing interest from other Premier League clubs.

Savic has recently been linked with a move to Emirates Stadium and says he will sign a pre-contract with Arsene Wenger’s side later this week to join from BSK Borca.

The 19-year-old also claims Birmingham City and Tottenham Hotspur were keen on a deal, but he is looking forward to the opportunity to play for Wenger.

He told Serbian newspaper Blic: “There were offers from Tottenham and Birmingham, but once a call came from Arsenal, I had no more doubts.

“Wenger made sure my papers were arranged for me and my work permit extended so I can be at more training sessions.

“He is the man. He has incredible authority at the club, everyone listens to him, assistants lead training sessions and he just supervises. Nothing can escape him.”

Savic added: “A pre-contract will be signed on Thursday and then I will return to Belgrade and join BSK for their preparations.

“I will be staying with BSK until May.”

The centre-half has five Under 21 caps and, if the deal goes through, his arrival will go some way to softening the blow of missing out on Chris Smalling, who opted to instead join Manchester United. (Sky Sports)

Now lets see if this does indeed get confirmed but if it does get the green light then it would be a good addition to our squad and another up and coming centre back would come in handy, and its always good to see us trump Tottenham to anyone. It was a shame we didn’t get Chris Smalling and I was surprised when he opted for a move to Old Trafford. The Fulham man would probably found a place in our first team sooner than at United simply because Arsene likes to throw people in at the deep end and the England Under 21 man may find himself waiting quite some time to get a run in the Man United set up.
