Aston Villa youngster Nathan Baker has been barred from the Carling Cup final after trying to sell his tickets for the clash with Manchester United.
Baker used social networking site Facebook to try to sell his allocation of five complimentary tickets for the 28 February Wembley showpiece.
But the England Under-19 defender, currently on loan at Lincoln, was stopped from doing so by the club.
He was reported to have been trying to sell his tickets for £200 apiece.
An Aston Villa spokesman said: “The club is saddened that Nathan has been so foolish.
“All of the players were made aware that tickets for the Carling Cup final are available for their own use only and, following this incident, the message has been repeated to them.

“Nathan’s actions were naive and he is extremely embarrassed and regretful at having let himself down at the club and the Aston Villa fans.
“It shouldn’t be forgotten, however, that Nathan is just 18 years old and he has a lot to learn.”
Baker is regarded as one of Villa’s most exciting young talents for the future although he has yet to make a senior appearance for Martin O’Neill’s side. (BBC Sport)

Now this takes a special kind of stupidity that in many ways deserves to be honoured. I am not sure that being 18 acts as any kind of defence. Clearly being banned from the Carling Cup Final will be quite a devastating blow for the youngster and it leaves the all important question unanswered, who gets the tickets now?
