Liverpool defender Fabio Aurelio could be back in contention after recovering from a calf injury picked up at Stoke last month.
Fernando Torres and Glen Johnson remain sidelined by knee problems, while Yossi Benayoun is out with a rib injury.
Everton duo Yakubu and Joseph Yobo are available after returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty in Angola.
Mikel Arteta may play after overcoming a groin strain, while Phil Jagielka and Tony Hibbert are nearing returns.
Liverpool
Suspended: None Doubtful: Aurelio (calf)
Injured: Benayoun (broken rib), Johnson & Torres (both knee)
Everton
Suspended: None Doubtful: Arteta (groin)
Injured: Gosling (hamstring), Hibbert (groin), Jagielka (knee) (BBC Sport)
This should be a tasty encounter, as it always is, and it sees two teams who are actually in pretty good form after both having fairly poor starts to the campaign. Rafa may decide to pitch in Ryan Babel for this Anfield battle and I am not sure he will get many more chances to finally prove himself after near on three seasons of underachieving (perhaps that is harsh as I thought he did pretty well in his first season with us).
Liverpool will need to get going from the off as the Toffees have learned to attack away from home from the off as evidenced in their good starts at both Stamford Bridge and the Emirates. Louis Saha is clearly the danger man and the return to form of Tim Cahill will be tough to handle as always.
In other words we need todays game to go without us giving away soft goals from set pieces of balls into the box. I’ve stuck a tenner on Kuyt to score first and I will be watching from the stands with the usual mixture of anticipation and excitement, hoping we can get one over our city neighbours.
My Prediction: 2-1 (Kuyt to score a brace)

Anon….10:14, u got an optimistic view i would settle for even one goal man, the mourinho thing..he is proven but I wouldn’t want him to come to Liverpool. He is too dramatic for the peace we enjoy at Liverpool.Benitez is the man..now and forever 20 years+..i wont watch the game so YNWA hoe your prediction will be right but let it be 2-0….

I would love to see Liverpool win 2-0 but my heart says Everton probably steal the match with 2-0 win. At the same time, I would not be surprised if it’s a 1-1 draw at the end of the day.

after reading the team sheet we may end up with a draw, yet again hardly any creativity and the flop N’gog. I don’t rate N’gog at all he may get better but he is not going to be a superstar, i actually rate lucas above him, but thats just my opinion. I rated nemeth a lot but he was sent on loan, pacheco doesn’t get any gametime and aquilani is on the bench for big matches.
Bored of Rafa seriously now i don’t care if we win or not i’d rather see a good performance – i know its not always possible but with rafa it’s never possible which is why i want him out. Football is entertainment but watching liverpool is not entertaining at all 99% of the time.

Pienaar almost broke Masch’s leg and he only got a yellow the bastard. No doubt about Kykriakos’s red though-terrible challange.
