Girondins Bordeaux vs US Boulogne-sur-Mer

Marouane Chamakh has revealed that he wants to move to England this summer when he becomes a free agent, and has stated Arsenal are the club he wants to sign for.

A host of teams have been chasing the highly-rated Moroccan international, who is out of contract at Bordeaux in the summer, but he has now revealed he wants to sign for the Gunners.

Arsenal tried to sign the 26-year-old last summer but could not agree terms, but Arsene Wengerhas retained his interest.

However, in recent times Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Everton and Sunderland have all made contact with Chamakh’s representatives as he is now free to talk terms with any interested clubs.

Inter Milan, Juventus and Sevilla have also been in touch, but Chamakh has now confirmed that he wants to move to the Emirates.

“My future? Well, I hold all the cards, I have no reason to be under pressure but everyday passing by, I am a little less a Bordeaux player,” he revealed.

So there you have it. Could this spell the end of this long running saga? Will Arsene Wenger finally get his man? For some time now Marouane Chamakh has been weighing up his options ahead of his contract running down in the summer and a move to the Emirates appears to be just one of many but now the Moroccan has put his cards on the table and presumably now all it will take is for Arsenal to offer the Bordeaux man a contract that is amenable to the striker.

The Gunners boss would surely have preferred it if he could have snapped up Chamakh in January but with Laurent Blanc’s men flying high at the top of Ligue 1 and still in Champions League action it was always going to be hard to prize him away from the French champions.

Arsenal will hope to be able to somehow manage through the rest of the season with a striking crisis that has left most of Arsene’s top goal getters out with one injury or another and seemingly never a pair of frontmen fully fit at the same time. Some may feel that Wenger should have resolved this issue some time ago but will no doubt still be interested to see what Marouane could do in the Premier League if he does indeed move to the north London outfit.
