Arsenal will offer Cesc Fabregas a new five-year deal that will make him the highest paid player in their history.

Despite having three years to run on his current contract, the Gunners board will sanction a £120,000 a-week deal to ensure the 22-year-old Spaniard stays at The Emirates.

Whilst it does seem that Cesc Fabregas is showing no signs of wanting to leave the Emirates it is always helpful to offer very large sums of money to repay that loyalty. Arsene Wenger has watched as the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona have consistently tried to unsettle the Arsenal captain by using their local newspapers to push their interest in the Spanish international whilst getting their players to drop as many references to how much they would want the talented midfielder to join them.

Given just how much the 22 year old has already achieved at the north London club one can only imagine just how much he has to offer and it is therefore not surprising that Arsenal want to tie up their prized asset to as long a contract as possible and will hope that such a deal would scare off interest from La Liga.

This season Cesc has become even more crucial than ever and has become a very important source of goals coming from the midfield to compensate for the lack of striking options due to a crippling injury list and perhaps a lack of planning on Wenger’s part.

After Arsenal fell to Manchester United at home last week today’s match away at Stamford Bridge becomes a “must not lose” encounter and the Gunners will be looking to get some from their match up with Chelsea to keep the pressure on the table toppers as well as Sir Alex’s men who yesterday clinched a stylish win over Portsmouth.

Pepe Guardiola would dearly love to lure Fabregas back to the Nou Camp where his footballing education began but if the Emirates outfit can clinch this hugely important deal then it may go some way to placating the constant raft of rumours and speculation about the 22 year old’s future.
