Arsenal have an away goal to take to the Emirates after a dramatic visit to Portugal. Lukasz Fabianski made a horrible mistake to hand Porto the lead but Sol Campbell leveled shortly after but Falcao scored the winner for the Portuguese champions.
Arsene Wenger will hope that his north London side can take advantage of home advantage and progress to the Champions League Quarter Finals.

Arsenal were ABSOLUTE shite tonight…..Campbell was amazingly strong for a 35 yuear old but the rest looked like they were hung over! Fabianski was fabulously horrible on the first “goal” and the defense were frozen in place for the second…They had better get back to top class Football because Porto, while poor played better than the Gunners. Any of the other top 4 would have massacred Porto tonight with their weak defense and mediocre team. Enough said……but I wonder if all these injured players are just really ashamed to play with a bunch of half-hearted boys all the time?

One quick solution for Arsenal, put Fabregas in goal. He saved Gerrard’s great free kick to protect the win against Liverpool and maybe better than Almunia and Fabianski.

to be honest, the second goal was a very lucky one..First of all,the ref shouldn’t have let Porto to continue play easily when the defensive line is not ready..If he doesn’t want them to be ready, then just give them a penalty..but Arsenal played quite poorly tonight,Campbell was quite good minus his mistake and he still looked as if he had never leaved Arsenal.

i dont understand, the second goal shouldnt of been allowed fabianski gave the ball so they can take the free kick and he was still on his way back to the goal? or isit that players should always put ball out of play before any free kick to prevent this?

both team was playing at same level both porto goals was complete luck a own goal by fabianski and another caught off guard. well if you people insist porto played better you can consider the second goal to be their legit goal but campbell also scored a clean header. arsenal had 3% more on possession with alot of corners and porto had 2 extra off target attempts while they also win the fouling department. in anyway porto was playing crap but arsenal as always naive.

porto’s 2nd goal was fine, except the referee may have allowed porto to take the indirect freekick just a little bit closer than where the foul occurred. The referee cannot prevent porto from taking the indirect free kick quickly and if the arsenal players do try and prevent the quick indirect free kick they must be cautioned. However, as a coach, I’d probably want my goalie to hang onto the ball or throw it away from the referee and take the caution to prevent this quick free. One team knew the laws of the game, the other didn’t . Wenger should take a referee course and learn the rules. I still love arsenal and the way they play the game!

Arsenal clearly did not deserve to even lose this game. First goal is a really stupid and cheap mistake. The arsenal goal, however, was a well worked goal. The second goal is also bull shit. They were not even prepared for the indirect free kick. I can’t understand how the ref let the goal stand. However, arsenal were also not at their best and probably would not deserve to win f they had done so. So i think a draw would have been fair!

The first Porto goal was weird and was the Ref’s fault…….i hope Arsenal destroys Porto at the emirates.
i do want Arsenal to win the champions league. tbh i won’t mind any one winning it aslong as Man utd doesn’t but i want Arsenal to win it themost.

Thanks for the apprieciation Nicklovesliverpool glad to see you back aswell.
Now i was surprised that Sol campball done well sure he was alittle at fault for the first goal but he done pretty well for a 35 year old.
England call up for him on the cards? lol

Have you seen how sky sports news are treating that indirect free-kick this morning? You would have thought some bastard had cleaned out the Bank of England last night. Wenger says he’s “never seen that before”. Well I have, and it was his shower of cheats that profited from it. It was seemingly ok for Arsenal to score from a sneaky quick ‘un against Villa a few years back and again against Chelsea (I think it was Chelsea); indeed I recall many commentators applauding Henry’s “imagination”, “alertness” and “speed of thought”. No such praise for Falcao and co. this morning I’m afraid.

honestally the press is so pro english it pisses me off sometimes e.g.
chelsea v barca – if it had have been chelsea that scored that freekick there would be no problem
last night – if arsenal had have scored then it would be skill and well thought
u cant say anyfin about fergie
rafa gets slagged all the time right or wrong (compare to fergie wenger ancelotti oneill or any other manager…… EVER)
im a barca fan and i hate it when anything wrong happens to the wnglish its always so crazy i live in spain and the press over here isnt even half as bad
coños de mierda

what was wrong with the second goal? nothing. arsenal deserved to get beat. just like liverpool, they arent good enough to win anything this season. they will probably end up going through but when it comes to the real hard games they will faulter. at least liverpool have got a better chance of winning something!!

hang on a minute, we may not have dominated the game but we gifted porto a win well fabianski did, school boy errors, so i aint gonna praise a midiocre porto that much, lets just see what they can do at the emirates with there so called better team, we will turn them over 3 or 4 nil.
there was nothing wrong with second goal, i live in plymouth and i seen mickey evans do it against swindon accept he shot n not passed, its legit, but fabianski shudnt have gave the ball back until the arsenal defence is ready and campbell shud of got infront of the ball atleast. oh and fabianski shudnt of picked it up.

fabianski is not fit in anyway to play he constantly blunders i sometimes wonder does he know the rules of defensive play and to be a goalkeeper. is seriously dont see how wenger see any potential in him.

If portsmouths bid to be allowed sell players outside of the transfer window is accepted then maybe we should try to sign David James. Surely better than what we have at the moment..? Even if it would only be a short term solution…

Lol. That Porto goal was bullshit. Absolute bullshit.
The first Porto goal was an honest mistake from Fabianski.
Campbell’s goal was great.
But the 2nd goal? Seriously?
And okay, all of you Arsenal haters, go ahead and say “blah blah blah, you guys did the same thing.”
But THIS IS THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. NOT THE PREMIER LEAGUE.

There are more Arsenal fans in Nigeria than England. Yes Everton great goal, well done Billy the Russian Toff. Hilarious comments by Terry Venables in todays Sun, Villa and Terry is he high, we can’t afford that, I think Wenger should spend a little more money, but not Chelsea or City money, Joe Cole would be good if we got for free.

Fabianski just needs to take that as a learning oppertunity, yes the two goals were mostly his fault but he only needs to work on positioning and footballing inteligence (as the commentator said, get the ball away from the free kick area which he should have done quickly or kept hold of the ball) but he will become a very good keeper he just had one of them games

Poor Spuds - February 21st, 2010 at 6:30 pm
T only way Fabianski can learn nything remotely close to Goal Keeping is by stayin away from tat clown of a Goal Keeper Almunia…
We gotta get rid of Almunia cuz he’s rubbing off his clumsiness to other Goalkeepers in the team…. This way he’s looking better than Fabianski though both are Clumsy 2 the same extent….
