So here it is, as spotted on the excellent Arsenal Insider, this is apparently the kit that the Emirates side will be wearing next term.

The Gunners are reportedly looking to recreate the design of the 1971 double winning style to celebrate the 125 anniversary of the great north London club. Looks pretty good to me and perhaps it will help us to end this silverware drought, if indeed we don’t do so this term.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given youth team player Benik Afobe a new long term deal at the club, putting an end to speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona.

Afobe, has a growing reputation in Europe and has attracted increased interest from Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola, with many officials within Arsenal worried that the highly rated starlet would sign for Barcelona.

Afobe turned 17 ten days ago and only signed as a scholar for Arsenal last summer progressing through the club’s Hale End Academy. Afobe shot to fame scoring 12 goals in 13 appearances at Under-18 level last year, and the youngster has continued to impress, netting 12 goals in 17 matches this campaign for Steve Bould’s side.

Afobe was linked with a move to Barcelona after a number of Barcelona scouts came to watch Afobe, with rumours in the Spanish press suggesting Pep Guardiola was ready to steal Afobe out of Wenger’s hands, much like Arsene Wenger did with Barcelona prodigy Cesc Fabregas. (Sport.co.uk)

So not only did we get Benik to put pen to paper on a long term deal but we also prevent Barcelona from attempting to “do a Fabregas” and that is just priceless. Afobe looks the real deal and one can only hope he can continue to grow at Arsenal and be a prolific finisher for the future. The youngster could well be in line for a look in at Carling Cup level next term and perhaps get a sniff at the first team picture in other competitions. Arsene Wenger will know exactly how and when to bring the player into the plans.

Arsenal are back in a fascinating Premier League title races after they won 2-0 against Sunderland at the Emirates on Saturday – a win which brought no post-match complaints from Arsene Wenger.
Can the Frenchman really be as transparent as that? Win and the ref is either fine or not worthy of comment?
Well, after the ill-advised comments made after the Champions League defeat at Porto on Wednesday and again on Friday, it would appear that Wenger is again proving to be a poor loser.

I did not see it: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is renowned for his selective vision on contentious moments in the match
Remember, this is the man who famously baited Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2002 with the comment ‘everyone thinks they have the prettiest wife at home’. Perhaps, now, it is time for Wenger to acknowledge that he once again is wearing red-tinted spectacles.

On Saturday, a neutral observer would have thought that Arsenal’s first goal looked offside and their second came from a dubious penalty award in stoppage time. (Daily Mail)

So let me get this right. Esteemed former Referee Graham Poll is complaining that Arsene Wenger complains when a ref makes a mistake and doesn’t find any fault in the officials when his side wins, ermm couldn’t the same statement and observation be made of any football manager on planet earth? Mr. Poll is an idiot. Enough said.
