Brazilian international suffers horror knock at Old Trafford.
Anderson has been ruled out for the rest of the season after the Manchester United midfielder ruptured his cruciate ligament against West Ham United.
The Brazilian was making his first appearance in over a month after being named in the starting line-up for Tuesday’s 3-0 win at Old Trafford.
However, Anderson was replaced by Park Ji-sung inside the opening 20 minutes of the Premier League fixture after hurting his knee.
Scans have shown the 21-year-old has suffered severe damage to his cruciate ligament and he will play no further part in United’s campaign. (BBC Sport)
This injury really couldn’t have come at a worst time for the Man United midfielder. Having fallen from grace somewhat after a thus far pretty average past 18 months Anderson was given his first Premier League start since the debacle at Craven Cottage when the Brazilian, amongst others, put in a woeful performance in a 3-0 defeat.
Its been a pretty up and down time for the 21 year old since his first sparkling season at Old Trafford but fortunately Sir Alex Ferguson can see the talent that Anderson possesses and the midfielder is still young enough to mature into a more consistent performer and hopefully in time he can serve the club well and fulfill the potential that he showed when he first arrived at Manchester United.
