Arsenal triumphed over Burnley at the Emirates to go second in the Premier League table but did not have it all their own way against their travel sick opponents.
It wasn’t until a late goal from Andrei Arshavin near to the final whistle that the Gunners had safely claimed all three points against a Burnley side who are notoriously bad away from home. Cesc Fabregas put Arsenal ahead but David Nugent leveled early in the second half only for Theo Walcott to put the north London side back in front on the hour mark.
Andrei Arshavin settled Arsenal’s nerves scored a third at the death. Less pleasing for the Emirates side was the injury sustained by captain Cesc Fabregas soon after he had scored. The last thing Arsene Wenger needs as he looks to push on with a title chase is to lose his mercurial skipper for any lengthy period of the time.
