Harry Redknapp considers White Hart Lane clear-out and plans some new arrivals.
A STRING of clubs are preparing to throw a Premier League lifeline to Jermaine Jenas.
Birmingham City and Sunderland will lead the chase if Spurs show their England outcast the door at the end of the season.
Robbie Keane could also be allowed to leave at the end of his Celtic loan spell if the Scots come up with £10million for him. (Sunday Express)
Whilst we may have a good squad at White Hart Lane and with Brazilian wonderkid Sandro on his way I don’t see why we should help anyone out by allowing our less valued players leave for a pittance. How in this day and age of the inflated transfer fee would Jermaine Jenas only cost £5m? We are talking about a 27 year old England international with a wealth of experience who on his day can be very effective. Sure we know he isn’t the most consistent player in the world and he can be a damn frustrating player to watch but how the hell could we let him go for a fee that wouldn’t buy one of Joleon Lescott’s arms!
As for Robbie well this could be an interesting stalemate in prospect. Keane may well want to make the move north of the border. He may even get some Champions League football, as will we hopefully, at Celtic but they don’t have any cash whatsoever. I guess £10m is a decent price for the 29 year old Irish international but I can guarantee the Parkhead side won’t have that kind of money to spend so who knows what that will mean for Pointy Shouty Bloke.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he would like to convert Eidur Gudjohnsen’s loan stay at White Hart Lane into a permanent deal.
The striker changed the course of Spurs’ 2-1 win at Stoke on Saturday, scoring the opener and offering a step-over assist in Niko Kranjcar’s winner after Matthew Etherington had equalised from the penalty spot.
Gudjohnsen’s goal, which came after he replaced the injured Roman Pavlyuchenko, was his first since he left Barcelona for Monaco last summer before joining Spurs on a temporary basis in the winter transfer window.
Redknapp was full of praise for the former Chelsea star and has now confirmed that he will talk with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy about attempting to make the move permanent.
The Spurs boss said: “I want to keep him here next year. He’s a real top player and he’s got fantastic ability. With Jermain Defoe out injured he has got a big part to play.
“The chairman did the deal for him and I don’t know the details, but we are certainly interested. The rest of the lads like him and they really love playing with him.” (Sky Sports)
Yes Harry, I would like to see him stay also. Make it happen. He’s a damn useful player to have around. He has a great footballing brain and is a great utility player to be able to call upon. The former Chelsea man oozes quality when he is on the ball, granted he may have lost some pace but you can see his brain ticking over when he gets the ball and along with some of our other quality flair players, Kranjcar, Modric, Lennon etc…, he really makes us an attractive team to watch and more importantly a dangerous team to come up against.
Tottenham will make Burnley winger Chris Eagles a summer target if the Clarets are relegated from the Premier League.
The 24 year-old has caught the eye of Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp this season according to The People. Redknapp is reportedly impressed by Eagles’ attacking credentials and his versatility which means he can play on both flanks.
The former Manchester United youngster is said to be a life-long Tottenham fan and would welcome a move to White Hart Lane. Eagles has one year left on his contract and intends to remain playing in the Premier League. (IMScouting)
Ermm, not sure about this one. Why would we want Chris Eagles? The 24 year old former Man United player has spent half this season on the Burnley bench so why the hell would he be of any use to us? Thoughts?
