Harry finally completes White Hart Lane signing!
Tottenham are poised to completed a deal for Internacional midfielder Sandro, BBC Sport understands.
A statement on Internacional’s website said an agreement was in place for the Brazil international to move for the start of next season.
And the 21-year-old will have a medical this week before returning to Brazil for the end of the domestic season.
Sandro, a defensive midfielder, has been a long-standing target for Spurs manager Harry Redknapp.
Speaking in October, Redknapp said: “We’ve been looking at Sandro.
However, any deal would require special dispensation to apply for a work permit because the player has yet to establish himself in his national team, his sole cap coming in a World Cup qualifier against Chile in September 2009. (BBC Sport)
So there you have it. It appears this long running White Hart Lane saga is over. Harry Redknapp has finally got his man and the 21 year old Brazilian international is quite a capture and I am sure that all Tottenham fans, me included, will be looking to see what all the fuss is about next term.
Reports about the exact fee paid for the Internacional defensive midfielder are contradictory but the general consensus is that it will set us back around 9-11m which in todays market is a decent price. He will give us another option in the centre of the midfield but will find it hard to push ahead of first choice pairing of Tom Huddlestone and Wilson Palacios but its good to have yet more strength in depth.
