Harry Redknapp wants to bring supremely talented midfield man to White Hart Lane.
Harry Redknapp is reportedly keen on snapping up out of favour Real Madrid defensive midfielder Lassana Diarra this summer. The Tottenham boss has repeatedly stated his desire to beef up options in the centre of the White Hart Lane midfield and there is no doubting that a move for the French international battler will fit the bill very nicely indeed.
The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder has apparently fallen out with Bernabeu boss Manuel Pellegrini and is now supposedly on his way out and given that Harry brought the talented midfielder to Portsmouth it is clear that the Spurs boss has a lot of admiration for the tough tackler.
I have always been a fan of the slightly built 25 year old and he has a lot of strength and determination on the ball and is more than capable of helping break down opposition attacks and Diarra will probably be indebted to Redknapp for saving his career after stuttering spells at the Emirates and Stamford Bridge.
The north London club has seen Wilson Palacios and Tom Huddlestone perform marvelously this term but Redknapp believes that Tottenham could do with more strength in depth in this area. With that in mind Sandro was brought in as a long term prospect and reports are circulating that Jermaine Jenas is on his way out, perhaps to Inter Milan, and therefore there could well be a need to bring in new recruits.
The £17m rated Real Madrid man will probably be more likely to consider a move to White Hart Lane if Spurs do indeed secure that top four spot and a Champions League spot. Daniel Levy appears more than happy to finance further moves in the transfer market but will be more likely to commit funds if the club sells some of its squad players and the likes of David Bentley and Jamie O’Hara appear likely to leave in the summer.
Spurs are reported to be tracking former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Lassana Diarra.
It is thought that Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is now weighing up a bid in the region of £15 million for the experienced midfielder.
Diarra has already played under Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth before he joined Real Madrid in 2008 for £20 million.
The French international is said to have fallen out of favour with coach Manuel Pellegrini, which could spell the end of his career at Madrid.
It seems Harry Redknapp is wasting no time in trying to strengthen his side for another assault on the Premier League’s top four.
Only last week Spurs tied up a deal to sign Brazil youngster Sandro, who will arrive at White Hart Lane this summer.
“He is an outstanding young player who we feel has a great future,” said Harry Redknapp.
“He is a strong and aggressive midfield player. We are looking forward to having him here with us next season.” (Give Me Football – Official PFA Website)
