Former Old Trafford flop proves there is life after the Premier League.
If six years ago you claimed that Diego Forlan would become one of the most feared predatory strikers in Europe you would probably have been escorted to the nearest mental asylum such was the waning star quality of the Uruguayan following an ill fated spell at Manchester United. However the 30 year old has gone from strength to strength since those miserable couple of years at Old Trafford.
In five and a half La Liga seasons Forlan has amassed an incredible 137 goals and seen him move from a rapidly improving Villarreal side to an off form Atletico Madrid outfit. The fleet footed natural finisher also has the chance to impress in a decidedly average opening group that sees him come up against France, South Africa and Mexico, a group I fully expect the South Americans to qualify from.
