Arsene Wenger sure to give potential offer for Emirates captain short shrift.
MANCHESTER CITY are preparing to break the British transfer record with a sensational bid for Cesc Fabregas.
City’s move for the Arsenal midfielder was authorised by owner Sheikh Mansour during a meeting with key personnel this week.
Although their swoop for Fabregas is dependent on a top-four finish, they plan to start the bidding at £50m in an attempt to see off Barcelona.
City now have a “1-2-3 wishlist” of world class targets that is topped by Fabregas, followed by Ferdnando Torres and Barca striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Although Fabregas has made it clear he wants to return to Barca if he quits Arsenal, City have been undeterred after taking initial soundings. (News of the World)
Manchester City may have a limitless amount of cash but they really don’t have a hope in hell of securing Emirates skipper Cesc Fabregas. Arsene Wenger will never entertain the notion of selling the Arsenal man and even if the north London club ever considered such a deal Cesc is unlikely to ever sign for another Premier League club.
Regardless of what offer is put forward to the Gunners it would surely be turned down. Arsenal are financially stable and therefore have no compunction to take a hefty offer for their most prized asset. Roberto Mancini has got his side purring and whilst they may well have Champions League football to offer for next season they need to adjust the bar in terms of the players they target.
Last term Man City looked to snap up players who were unhappy at their clubs and big money was offered and as a result the Eastlands side brought in some superb players and it would make sense for the club to look for similar targets next term because dream signings such as these are just not going to become a reality, regardless of how much money is on the table.
Now a few years down the line if the club has consistently performed in both domestic and European football then such deals may be more likely.
