Rafa Benitez leads chase for youngster who has set his sights on Anfield move.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez intends to continue his chase for £8m rated teenager Georginio Wijnaldum and hopes to seal the deal for the Dutch Under 21 international this summer. The Anfield manager is hoping for a cash injection if, or indeed when, new owners are brought in to replace Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
The young attacker has come on leaps and bound in the past two seasons and is now a fixture in the Feyenoord starting eleven and the Rotterdam side have made it clear they will fight off any interest in one of the prized possessions.
However Georginio has stated publicly that he is flattered by the interest shown by the Merseyside outfit and names Liverpool man, and former Feyenoord favourite, Dirk Kuyt as one of his biggest influences which has merely added to the speculation surrounded the future of the speedy adaptable youngster.
