Anfield boss considers move to bring in cover for Pepe Reina.
Rafa Benitez is looking to snap up Wolves Welsh International keeper Wayne Hennessey this summer. The Anfield boss is keen to recruit a goalie who can keep Spanish star Pepe Reina on his toes and believes the 23 year old could well be just the right fit for the job.
Hennessey has watched as American Marcus Hahnemann has ably taken the lions share of the custodian duties at Molineux and could well be tempted by such a move even though it would take quite some effort to dislodge Reina who has been a relative ever present since his arrival in the summer of 2005.
Mick McCarthy will only listen to big offers for the Manchester City trainee who is valued at around £5m and is still a baby in goalkeeping terms and has a great deal of potential that Benitez may feel he can build on. The Liverpool manager is looking to add more British stars ahead of the new ‘homegrown’ ruling set to come into operation in the Premier League.
