Former Old Trafford star getting itchy feet?
CRISTIANO RONALDO is already planning his Real Madrid exit.
Ex-Manchester United superstar Ronaldo moved to the Bernabeu in a world record £80million move last summer.
But the Portugal striker admits he will not finish his career with the Spanish giants.
Ronaldo, 25, insists he will call time on his stay in Madrid once he has a similar haul of silverware to what he won at Old Trafford.
During his time at United, Ronaldo claimed three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups and the Champions League.
He was also crowned World Player of the Year in 2008 after smashing an astonishing 42 goals in the 2007-2008 season.
Ronaldo said: “Football is all about cycles. I believe that you are in teams for cycles.
“If you have already won everything with a team you have to change and that’s what happened to me with United.
“I wanted a different football and different goals and I am very happy to have taken this decision. Alex Ferguson understood my decision. I continue to talk to him.
“I spent several years wanting to play in Madrid but I don’t see myself here at 40.” (The Sun)
So there you have it. Cristiano Ronaldo confidently predicts he won’t be at Real Madrid when he is 40, which seems fair enough as such a feat of fitness and form would be astounding. However reading between the lines you may get the idea that things are not all that hunky dory for the former Manchester United man.
He would clearly have been stung by the way his side was humbled by Lyon in the Champions League but they are only one point from top spot in La Liga and the attacker has notched an impressive 27 goals in 31 starts, which isn’t bad for his first season in Spain.
Expect this story to generate much transfer speculation but no solid bids. After all Real Madrid are a) unlikely to sell the Galatico and b) if they did do so would only accept bids in excess of £100m for the 25 year old which c) only leaves the door open to a move to Manchester City which d) will never ever happen!
