Emirates boss looks to snap up Lazio man.
Arsene Wenger is reportedly weighing up a move for Lazio striker Mauro Zarate and hopes to take advantage of the uneasy relationship between the Argentine and the Serie A side in order to pick up a bargain. The former Birmingham City loanee has continually been linked with a move to the Emirates and a move back to the Premier League seems a distinct possibility given the problems the 23 year old is having at the Stadio Olimpico.
The former Velez Sarsfield man has fallen out with the Rome club after finding his first team chances limited following his permanent move to the club in the summer. Zarate was the club’s top scorer last term but has failed to live up to expectations and has only managed 3 Serie A goals this term and is apparently enjoying a strained relationship with new coach Edoardo Reja.
Arsenal are looking for new attacking options for next season after seeing an injury crisis earlier in the season severely effect their chances of success. Wenger is already set to bring in Bordeaux man Marouane Chamakh for nothing but could also consider a move for the £15m Argentine who on his day can be a top level natural predatory finisher.
