Who will replace him at the Ricoh Arena?
Coventry City have sacked manager Chris Coleman after finishing 19th in the Championship following Sunday’s 4-0 home defeat by Watford.
The former Fulham boss took over in February 2008 and led them to survival that season and then 17th last term.
A club statement read: “The board stressed that the decision was not a knee-jerk reaction to Sunday’s match.
“The team’s form deteriorated rapidly towards the end of the season for the second year running.”
Sky Blues chairman Ray Ranson said: “I enjoyed a very close working relationship with Chris and it’s been a pleasure to work with him since his arrival.
“The board would like to place on record their thanks for his efforts over two and a half years.
“We will not be rushed into finding a successor and the board will explore every avenue to appoint the right manager to take Coventry City forward.” (BBC Sport)
There was a time when Chris Coleman was considered to have a very bright future and that he was one of the leading lights of the managerial community. How distant that time must feel to the Welshman right now. He probably would have hoped that his side would have tried a little harder in the final game of the season, to give the Ricoh Arena fans something to cheer about, unfortunately they didn’t. To end the season with eleven winless games will always make your position tenuous and so it has proven.
Who would the Sky Blues like to see take his Coleman’s place? Sven Perhaps?
