Arsenal will reportedly attempt to lure Bolton Wanderers centre back Gary Cahill to the Emirates this summer. Arsene Wenger has earmarked the former Aston Villa man as an ideal candidate to freshen up his aging back line. The 24 year old has been in solid form this season and has been linked with a move away from the Reebok for some time now and even though the Trotters have placed a high price tag on his head it appears that the Gunners are still very much interested.
With the likes of William Gallas, Sol Campbell and Mikel Silvestre in danger of all being offloaded the north London side has been looking at potential additions to their squad and have been linked with a number of talented defenders both at home and abroad.
Owen Coyle has been quoted as saying he is worried about the possibility that one of his prized assets may have his head turned by interest shown in him from top four sides but there may be little the Bolton manager can do if indeed Arsenal make an offer for the £15m rated centre back.
Cahill is a determined battling defender who also has the ability to play the ball out intelligently and also represents a very real attacking weapon going forward as the Sheffield born has a knack of getting on the end of set plays. He also helps Arsenal to build up their quota of ‘homegrown’ players ahead of the new Premier League regulations next season.
