Emirates boss earmarks England international to replace French veteran.
ARSENAL have been linked with a £15million move for Everton defender Phil Jagielka.
The Sunday Mirror claims Arsene Wenger has identified the Toffees’ centre-half as a replacement for William Gallas, who has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Gunners, with his contract running out this summer.
Wenger has admitted that he will look to strengthen his defence after seeing his team fall quickly off the pace of Chelsea and Manchester United in the season run-in.

Phil Jagielka was well on his way to becoming an integral part of the England set-up when he suffered a cruciate ligament injury that ruled the former Sheffield United centre back for the best part of a year, the Everton man is now finding his feet and is attracting attention again.
Arsene Wenger is reportedly very keen on freshening up his aging defence and the Emirates boss may well lose the services of Sol Campbell, Mikel Silvestre and William Gallas this summer and a move for the Goodison Park defender makes a great deal of sense.
Not only is the 28 year old a calm, assured and determined customer he is also English and with the new ‘homegrown’ regulations set to come into force this summer Arsenal could do with adding a few more players to fill their quota.
