Emirates boss urgently seeks new keeper.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly considering a bid for Hugo Lloris after making the French keeper his number one summer target.
23-year-old Lloris has been receiving rave reviews for his performances at Ligue 1 runners-up Lyon, and Arsenal are one of a number of clubs who have been monitoring the young stopper.
Should Wenger decide against a move for the Ligue 1 goalkeeper of the year, a move for Ukranian international Andriy Pyatov is reportedly a second option for the Frenchman as he looks to strengthen in a problematic position for the north London club. (Give Me Football – Official PFA Website)
Arsene Wenger is apparently a man on a mission when it comes to finding a replacement for Manuel Almunia as Arsenal’s number one keeper and this source suggests that the Emirates boss has placed highly rated French international Hugo Lloris as his number one summer target.
One can see why Wenger would be interested in the Nice born keeper, Lloris has been a revelation over his two seasons at the Stade Gerland where the season before last Lyon conceded less goals than any other side. The former Nice man is now arguably Raymond Domenech’s first choice French keeper after overhauling Marseille man Steve Mandanda as France’s number one.
The Arsenal board have promised Wenger a cash injection to help improve his squad and a new keeper is probably very high up on his list of priorities after a season where both Almunia and second choice Lukasz Fabianski made a number of high profile blunders.
