Continuing the theme of talented teams with distractions, enter Argentina.
Head coach Diego Maradona is a walking, talking, real-life distraction.
In a typical, wacky day for the soccer legend, Maradona ran over a cameraman’s foot on his way to announcing his 23-man World Cup roster.
At first, Maradona berated the cameraman, blaming him for getting in the way. “How can you put your leg there where it can get run over, man?” Maradona asked.
More important than deciphering Maradona’s lifestyle choices or driving skills are the methods behind his squad selection. Certain circles questioned Maradona for omiting veteran Inter Milan duo Javier Zanetti and Esteban Cambiasso from his squad.
There weren’t any more major surprises in his final team selection, with Newcastle defender Fabricio Coloccini being the biggest named axed from the squad.

This won’t be the last bit of craziness we see from Diego this summer. Clearly however the cameraman would have been better off not placing his foot under the wheels of Maradona’s neat little car but lets face it this is part and parcel of being a member of the paparazzi, its a peril of the job just like the possibility you could be whacked about the face by Naomi Campbell. The cameraman in question does appear to make a meal of it whilst lying on a stretcher, after all he was only run over by a Mini Cooper, which I am reliably told by my COS colleagues, weighs the same as a tricycle.
Here is the video of the incident for you to enjoy.
