Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill hopes to be given enough cash this summer to mount a move to bring Tottenham forward Roman Pavlyuchenko to Villa Park. The midlands outfit are desperately looking for a foil for England international Gabriel Agbonlahor.
With John Carew apparently set to leave and Emile Heskey proving to be a big disappointment since his move from Wigan in January 2009, since when the forward has managed just 5 goals in 45 Premier League appearances, O’Neill is trying to persuade owner Randy Lerner to stump up the cash for the White Hart Lane man.
The Russian international has struggled to win himself a regular spot in the Tottenham side since his £13.8m move in August 2008.
