Arsene Wenger is reportedly considering a move for West Ham duo Robert Green and James Tomkins as he looks to add more ‘homegrown’ talent to his Emirates squad and looks for new defensive options. The Arsenal boss has been given the green light to make big moves in this summer’s transfer window and believes that solving his back line problems to be the most important area to resolve.

Having seen Robert Green put in a top notch performance in the recent England friendly against Mexico Wenger would do well to attempt to snap up the 30 year old former Norwich City man. Youngster James Tomkins has been a regular in the England Under 21 side and had a decent season at Upton Park to follow on from an assured campaign the season before.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has been quoted as saying that almost every player at the club is available for the right price and that has led to much speculation about just who may stay and who may go. The fact that the east London club is still without a manager may also play in the Gunners favour as they look to make the most of any uncertainty to pick up the pair valued jointly at around £14m.
