Eastlands boss turns attentions to Villa Park forward.
Roberto Mancini is reportedly looking to build a new look attack and has set his sights on Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor and is willing to put in a bid in the region of £22m for the 23 year old England international.
The Manchester City boss is apparently set for a major summer clear out and could well look to offload Roque Santa Cruz, Craig Bellamy and potentially listen to offers for topscorer Carlos Tevez. Some sources have suggested that the Italian enjoys a fairly frosty relationship with many of his players and that he and Argentine international Tevez do not see eye to eye.
Mancini has also been linked with moves for Agbonlahor’s Villa and England teammates James Milner and Ashley Young, but is now seemingly keen on the forward. Having just finished his fifth, and most productive, season in the midlands sides first team the Eastlands manager hopes he can tempt to persuade the Birmingham born to leave the club in search of a whopping pay rise and the chance to play in a team would arguably have more of a chance of securing Champions League football in the near future.
Reports that claim that Martin O’Neill may well be considering his future at at Villa Park may also help to create the level of uncertainty at the club which may only aid Mancini’s advances.
