Emirates boss tries to tempt Ligue 1 side into centre back sale.
Arsenal are preparing to let young midfielder Francis Coquelin join Lorient on a season-long loan to help improve their chances of landing the French side’s defender Laurent Koscielny.
Sportsmail revealed Arsenal’s interest in the 24-year-old centre back last week and they followed up with a £4.2m offer.
The French club are demanding closer to £7m, however, and Arsenal will make another offer this week. (Daily Mail)
Clearly Arsenal fans are keen on their manager doing some business this summer and the Emirates supporters probably want to see established players signed so they may well question the wisdom of trying to sign Laurent Koscielny, a player with the bare minimum of Ligue 1 experience.
Clearly Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is as astute as any when it comes to unearthing new talents but is there a case for the north London side looking instead to the bigger more experienced names to help reverse a five season silverware drought?
