Jose Mourinho apparently ready to make cheeky move for Anfield skipper.
Steven Gerrard is Jose Mourinho’s number one target, as the Special One looks to reshape Real Madrid.
The Liverpool midfielder is plastered across the front of Spanish daily Marca, and the paper claims that Mourinho has identified the England international as the man to lead his Real revolution.
The former Inter manager has made two full-backs, and a central midfielder his priority for the new season, and Gerrard perfectly fits into the mould of the ‘team player’ that Mourinho has been preaching about.
With Gerrard seemingly dissatisfied with life under Rafa Benitez, and Liverpool needing to raise cash to strengthen the squad, the time could have come for the Anfield legend to finally spread his wings for one last hurrah in La Liga. (Daily Mirror)
We all know that Real Madrid like to use The Marca to do its donkey work and this is a typically subtle manner in which the La Liga giants deal with unsettling players. Some reports estimate the value of any bid for the 29 year old Anfield man at around £40m but regardless of the level of any forthcoming move from the Bernabeu, any offer would surely fall on deaf ears at the Merseyside club…wouldn’t it?
