Villa Park boss targets Molineux hotshot.
Martin O’Neill is rumoured to be ready to swoop for Wolves Irish international Kevin Doyle as he looks to bring in further attacking options to Villa Park. Having seen Mick McCarthy seal a deal to bring Burnley striker Steven Fletcher to Molineux a couple of days ago O’Neill feels he could win the race to bring Doyle to the midlands outfit.
Doyle only arrived at Wolves last summer and finished as the clubs top scorer last season but has been frequently linked with moves further up the Premier League ladder and now that Fletcher has arrived it appears an deal could be on the cards for the former Reading man.
John Carew could well be about to leave Aston Villa with the likes of Roma taking an interest in his services. Emile Heskey has failed to cement his place in the first team which leaves O’Neill looking for an effective partner for Gabriel Agbonlahor and it could be that man could be Kevin Doyle, a player who has more than proved his top tier credentials in recent seasons.
