Anfield wants to reunite with former boss at San Siro.
Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano will reportedly push for an Anfield exit as soon as he returns from the World Cup and hopes that Rafa Benitez attempts to bring the Argentine captain to the San Siro if the Spaniard is confirmed as Inter Milan boss.
The 26 year old defensive midfielder has made noises about considering his options at the Merseyside club and he may use the current period of uncertainty to his advantage by making it clear he wishes to leave the club. The clubs American owners may opt to offload the former West Ham man rather than keeping an unhappy player and they may also be keen on a cash injection that would result in his transfer to the Serie A champions.
“Me with him? I don’t know about my future, but I spent great years with Benitez. My football is his football.”? Mascherano on Rafa.
Rafa Benitez may well look to bring in new players as Jose Mourinho looks to take some of his treble winning side to the Bernabeu. The £35m rated star had a fairly shocking season last term after being one of the clubs top performers the previous term and if he does indeed look for an Anfield exit there may be nothing that Liverpool can do than to try and get as much money as possible for a player who appears to be unhappy.
