SPURS have contacted West Ham over the availability of £10m-rated Carlton Cole.
England striker Cole, 26, has been linked with Liverpool, Arsenal, Stoke and Birmingham, prompting boss Harry Redknapp to make an early approach.
Cole made an impressive start to last season, ending up with 10 goals as the Hammers just stayed up.
Redknapp wants to boost his strike force ahead of Spurs’ Champions League campaign and Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko, Sevilla forward Luis Fabiano and Palermo’s Edinson Cavani also feature on his hitlist. (Daily Star)
Have the Daily Star just plucked this out of thin air or could this really be on the cards? The White Hart Lane already has four strikers who are better than the England man so I see no reason why Harry Redknapp would consider such a move.
There is no denying the former Chelsea man has improved dramatically over the past 18 months but I do not see him as Champions League level or even a top six level player and therefore any suggestion that the north London club are after him is mindboggling.
There is a good chance that Robbie Keane has played his last game for Tottenham and Roman Pavlyuchenko may or may not be homesick, depending on what paper you read, so there may be need for reinforcements but all the other potential targets named by this source are better suggestions than moving for the 26 year old Hammers forward.
