Schalke’s safe pair of hands on Old Trafford radar.
German international keeper Manuel Neuer is reportedly a target of Sir Alex Ferguson has he looks for a long term replacement for Edwin Van der Sar. The Schalke goalie is the current German international number one and has been in excellent form of late helping his side to within touching distance of their first Bundesliga title in over 50 years.
Ferguson is desperately searching for a safe pair of hands after deciding that Ben Foster, now at Birmingham, and Thomas Kuszczak were not good enough to take over from the Dutch veteran when he finally hangs up his gloves.
Neuer is a solid keeper who at 24 years of age has a long and prosperous career ahead of him. He has shown maturity beyond his years and is in many ways the perfect successor to Van der Sar and could well be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
