Arsenal are preparing a bid for long term target Ibrahim Afellay as Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen his squad this summer. The north London side have been looking for new additions to help reverse a series of decidedly average seasons and believe that the addition of the PSV Eindhoven man would help provide the club with an adaptable and experienced head to help boost the club’s attacking options.
The 24 year old Dutch International has spent his entire at PSV and is apparently ready to leave after his sides recent period of poor form that has seen the perennial Eredivisie champions finish fourth and third respectively in the past two seasons.
Wenger is known to be an admirer of the £11m rated flair player who is a versatile performer who can play either as an attacking central midfielder or on either wing. He is currently on World Cup duty where he is sure to come under the focus of many potential interested parties just so long as he manages fight his way into a very strong Netherlands side.
Afellay is in many ways the archetypal Wenger player. He has great touch and vision and is able to link up well and has an eye for goal.
