Kiwis take on Slovaks in Group E match in Durban.
New Zealand midfielder Tim Brown will not be risked against Slovakia, having only recently returned to training following shoulder surgery, but should be available for the match against Italy on Sunday.
Coach Ricki Herbert has said Brown will be replaced by veteran Ivan Vicelich, who normally plays at centre-back.
Slovakia winger Miroslav Stoch is expected to start on Tuesday despite picking up a minor knee problem in training. Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel has recovered from an ankle injury and is also likely to feature. (BBC Sport)
Having seen Italy and Parguay draw in the other Group F encounter both New Zealand and Slovakia may feel they have an outside shot at qualification albeit the Slovakians will feel that they must win in Durban even though they are in their debut World Cup.
Vladimír Weiss has the likes of top notch performers Martin Skrtel, Marek Hamsik and Miroslav Stoch to call upon as his side take on a Kiwi side made up of fairly average ability and experience who are expected to be the whipping boys of the group, however do not underestimate New Zealand’s chances to battle their way to a point or two.
