Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has reportedly set his sights on Barcelona defender Martin Caceres as he looks to strengthen his defence in preparation for their inaugural Champions League campaign and in the hope of retaining their place in the Premier League top four next term.
The Uruguayan international is currently on World Cup duty in South Africa and spent last term on loan at Juventus but the White Hart Lane boss hopes to beat the Italians to a permanent deal by offering the promise of a Premier League move and a more likely chance at regular first team football.
The 23 year old is an adaptable defender who can play as a full back on either wing as well as his more customary central defensive position. Caceres managed a treble in his first season at Nou Camp, albeit as very much a bit part player in Pepe Guardiola’s side but the talented former Villarreal man could well offer Redknapp many options and is well worth making an approach given the much reported injury concerns over the likes of Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King.
