France will be without striker Nicolas Anelka, who has been sent home for insulting coach Raymond Domenech. Andre-Pierre Gignac or Thierry Henry are the favourites to replace him. Jeremy Toulalan is suspended after picking up two yellow cards.
South Africa goalkeeper Moeneeb Jospehs is likely to play in goal because first choice Itumeleng Khune is suspended. MacBeth Sibaya is also in line to start the game as a replacement for suspended midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi.
One booking from suspension: Masilela, Pienaar (South Africa); Evra, Ribery, Abidal (France). (BBC Sport)

Things have gone from bad to worse for the French in this World Cup campaign and there is even talk of a possible strike by some of Raymond Domenech’s squad for this Bloemfontein encounter which would be the icing on the cake.
France know that even if they beat the hosts they then have to hope that Uruguay and Mexico don’t play out the draw that sees both sides progress to the last 16. However what may work in their favour is that both sides will be keen to avoid Argentina in the next round and may therefore both be playing for a win.
Thierry Henry may finally get a World Cup start after having to sit on the bench and offer a cameo role to a side who have looked woeful as an attacking force.
