Driving force: Manchester City’s Micah Richards in action against Sunderland
Arsenal are ready to battle old foes Tottenham for Manchester City defender Micah Richards.
The England international will be allowed to leave Eastlands this summer and could fetch up to £9million as the North-London rivals fight to sign a player at home in the centre of defence and at right-back.

In many ways Micah Richards could be the perfect Arsenal signing this summer. As Arsene Wenger looks to bring in new defensive options as he sees William Gallas and Mikel Silvestre head for the Emirates he has been linked with a myriad of potential targets and the Manchester City man may be an ideal man to do the job.
Gunners fans are hoping that the Arsenal boss brings in established names but Arsene is obviously very keen on bringing in young talent that he can mould to fit his way of playing. England international Richards is just 22 years of age but has already amassed over 150 top flight starts for the Eastlands outfit.
Roberto Mancini doesn’t appear to see the Birmingham born youngster as a regular first team player and also plans on brining in further defensive options including German international Jerome Boateng who like Richards can play equally well at full back and centre back.
If indeed Micah is allowed to leave then he would surely jump at the chance of a move to north London.
