England are expected to name the same starting XI that beat Slovenia for Sunday’s World Cup last-16 match against Germany, BBC Sport understands.
It means Matthew Upson will partner John Terry in central defence, which was understood to be the only position that was a cause for debate.
“I understand that England will be unchanged,” said BBC Radio 5 live’s senior football reporter Ian Dennis.
Germany’s Bastian Schweinsteiger is expected to be fit for the clash.
The Bayern Munich midfielder has recovered from a hamstring problem although left-back Jerome Boateng (calf) and striker Cacau (abdominal muscle strain) are ruled out.
Boateng is set to be replaced by Holger Badstuber, while Miroslav Klose returns from suspension to fill the position vacated by Cacau.
