Emirates boss given chance to snap up top quality Dutch international.
Arsenal have reportedly been offered Dutch midfielder Rafael Van der Vaart.
The Dutch playmaker isn’t reportedly in new manager Jose Mourinho’s plans, and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is one of the Premier League managers offered his services.
Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool are also being made aware of the player’s availability, with the galacticos looking to start a summer bidding war for the player.
Van der Vaart rose to prominence at boyhood club Ajax, making over 100 appearances for the Eredivisie side as he built a solid reputation.
German side Hamburg signed the 27-year-old back in 2005, paying €5.5 million for the player’s services.
After three fine seasons in the Bundesliga, Madrid splashed the cash with a €15 million move that brought the Dutchman to the Bernabeu.
A regular immediately after the move, Van der Vaart has gone down the pecking order at Los Blancos over the season, and the ‘special one’ is thought to be interested in cashing in on the player as he looks at potential new signings.
Van der Vaart’s international credentials are unquestioned, with 58 caps since making his debut back in 2001. He’s a key member of the current World Cup squad and has featured in three of their four fixtures thus far.
A summer target at the Emirates as recently as last season, the north London club will be one of the favourites if they decide to make a move after the tournament in South Africa. (Give Me Football)
The manner in which Real Madrid have treated Rafael Van der Vaart is frankly criminal. A player of great quality, the Dutchman has been wasted at the La Liga giants who promised the former Ajax man a sustained run in the first team last erm only to hand him less starts than the previous season.
He could be of great use to Arsene Wenger if indeed the north London club decide to take the Spanish side up on their offer. Thought to be valued at around £18m the attacking midfielder can be played across many different positions and has bags of top level experience.
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the 27 year old but Van der Vaart may well be more interested in joining a club who can offer him Champions League, besides the cash strapped Merseyside outfit could struggle to come up with the funds needed to complete such a signing.
