Juventus are chasing Arsenal fullback Gael Clichy.
French sources says Juventus could well be in for Arsenal defender Clichy, although they baulked at the £12m asking price.
The Gunners can be talked into handing over Clichy in part-exchange for Brazilian Felipe Melo.
Despite the own goal and red card against Holland, Melo remains a target for Arsene Wenger. (Tribalfootball.com)
This could turn out to be a case of what is Arsene Wenger’s greater need. This offer would hand them an experienced, if temperamental, defensive midfielder and would cost them a full back who has not been anywhere near his usual best for some time now.
Perhaps more importantly, in Kieron Gibbs the Gunners have a more than capable ready made replacement for Gael Clichy so if this bid does indeed become a reality maybe its one that could work out on all fronts. The 24 year old French international has constantly linked with a move away from the Emirates and doesn’t appear to be incredibly happy of late.
Brazilian international Felipe Melo is known to be a player that Arsene rates very highly and could be purchased for around £22m but any deal that includes Clichy may in the end only need the north London club to add a few million on top.
Is this a deal that appeals to Arsenal fans?
