Felipe Melo has moved a step closer to leaving Juventus after general director Giuseppe Marotta indicated the Serie A club will listen to offers for the Brazil midfielder. Reports in Italy claim Melo could join Arsenal this summer in an exchange deal which would see Gunners left-back Gael Clichy move the other way. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

Its a deal that may well make sense for all concerned. In Kieron Gibbs the Gunners have a ready made replacement for Gael Clichy and a good one at that. Arsene Wenger has been chasing Juventus man Felipe Melo for a couple of years now and if indeed the Serie A club are interested in completing this exchange deal it could well become a reality.

The 27 year old Brazilian didn’t have the best of World Cup’s, culminating in a red card against Holland, but he is an experienced defensive midfielder who could well be a perfect fit for the north London club. Clichy also has a pretty horrid World Cup, where he only partook in one match and that being a defeat against the hosts that eliminated the French side from the competition.

The left back has not been half the player he once was and has made noises about moving on and could well look at a move to Turin as a new challenge he is happy to make. This could be a swap move that comes to fruition.
