Emirates target can now be snapped up for nothing!
Tottenham’s attempts to sign Gai Assulin could be hijacked by Arsenal or Chelsea, according to reports.
Assulin, 19, failed to secure a new contract at Barcelona – despite being regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting talents – which put Spurs on red alert.
Harry Redknapp had been expected to secure the signature of the attacking midfielder, but the youngster could be tempted by a move to one of Spurs’ London rivals, say Goal.com.
Assulin’s agent Pini Zahavi said:
“The decision not to renew Gai’s contract was mutual. At the moment we are considering his options.”

There seems some confusion as to why highly rated Israeli Gai Assulin was not offered a new Nou Camp contract given the potential the youngster had shown. The teenage playmaker had been a player who was been groomed as a potential star for the future but then no effort was made to offer the 19 year old a new deal.
Arsene Wenger had been just one of many admirers of the youngster and could now make a concerted effort to sign the player for nothing but no doubt a host of others will look to make similar moves for the player who was valued at around £8m when he was still under contract.
Whilst many may feel that the north London club has more than enough young talent at the club, the fact that a player with as much potential as Assulin could be signed for nothing may just be too tempting for Wenger to pass up.
