Javier Mascherano is ready to try and force Liverpool’s hand over a move from Anfield by submitting a transfer request.
The Liverpool midfielder is aware of continuing interest from Barcelona and is just as keen on linking up with his former manager Rafa Benitez at Inter Milan.

Increasingly concerned at an apparent deadlock over engineering a transfer to either club, he is preparing to hand Roy Hodgson his first major test as Liverpool boss by asking for a move.
Even if it is viewed sympathetically, the Argentina captain could find himself priced out of both clubs’ reach, after it emerged Liverpool are likely to value him at a prohibitive £30m.
Benitez may offer Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari in part-exchange, but it would still take a cash adjustment of at around £20m to push a deal through.
It is clear Mascherano could start a season under a cloud at Anfield for a second year running. (Daily Mail)

Does Javier Mascherano want to leave Anfield? The rumour mill suggests that he does, and whilst its never a great idea to believe all you read, it does seem that the midfield battler is engineering a Liverpool exit. So with this in mind Inter Milan are apparently happy to offer us Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari as part of a deal for the £32m rated Argentine, is it a good deal?

Well we are getting nearer and nearer to a new season and it seems to make sense to take a player rather than straight cash as to pursue a new signing may take time and I am a fan of the former Pompey man. He has good control and is able to link midfield to attack nicely, but clearly he is not a direct replacement for Javier, so how do we rectify that issue?

Do we bring in another defensive midfielder, do we attempt to promote from within? Do we have anyone near good enough to fill his boots? I would answer with an emphatic no. Any ideas for potential replacements? Bare in mind we are not talking about Fantasy Football here so lets try to be realistic.
