BERLIN — Octopus oracle Paul’s prescience wasn’t needed to predict how this one would turn out: His aquarium in Germany says there’s no way they’re sending the celebrity mollusk to Spain.
The response comes after the Madrid Zoo made an unspecified bid for the octopus, who famously predicted the outcome of Germany’s seven World Cup matches correctly and tipped Spain to triumph over the Netherlands in the final.
The Madrid Zoo made its offer after receiving hundreds of requests from Spaniards for Paul’s transfer after Spain won the World Cup on Sunday.

War’s have started for a lot less…probably. One can understand why Spanish Zoos would want to purchase the eight tentacled freak and one can also understand why Germans want him served in a Paella, so what now?

If the Oberhausen Aquarium choose to resist offers for their prized possession the Spanish may send in a crack team of elite commandos to nab him, they will then be arrested and spark an international incident of epic proportions. The Russians will side with one side and the Americans with another. The North Koreans will get involved, they always do, and then bingo you have China pulled into it.

For years War strategists have analysed potential scenarios that could result in a third World War. Many believed the unstable Balkan region would be a potential area of concern, then of course the Middle East situation is often cited as a crisis area that could be the tipping point. However scenario 14.2 has always been a big worry. 14.2 of course involves the much discussed fear that a psychic cephalopod would become an international celebrity who would then be used as a pawn in a much bigger game.

Perhaps we should let Paul decide? He is clearly more intelligent than the entire human race.

They can place a Spanish flag, indicating being moved to a nice enclosure in Madrid Zoo where he can be the celebrity that draws millions of visitors and perhaps land a chat show some time in the future. Or a German flag that will involve him being chopped up into small pieces and eaten? We will then see just how smart the Octopus really is.
