Real Madrid are prepared to break Chelsea’s resolve to keep Ashley Cole by offering Brazil superstar Kaka in exchange, according to The Mirror.
The England World Cup 2010 left back is understood to be determined to leave the country due to the press attention following his split from wife, Cheryl. After bringing him to the Blues in 2006, new Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho is reported to be ready to seize the chance to have a reunion with the former Arsenal player.
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has declared he has no intention of letting Cole go even for a reported £30 million. This position could be weakened, however, if Kaka was sent to Stamford Bridge in an exchange.
The attacking midfielder endured a debut campaign of disappointment at the Bernabeu after suffering a decline in form and fitness. Ancelotti brough the best out of the £56 million signing at AC Milan and could be tempted by the opportunity bringing the best out of him again. (Goal.com)
This must fall into the category of truly unbelievable speculation, or as I like to call them… lies. The idea that Jose Mourinho would be so enamoured with full back Ashley Cole that he would be willing to offload former World Player of the Year Kaka to sweeten the deal is just plain ridiculous.
There is no doubting the talent Ashley Cole possesses. Hell he may also be at his peak right now, but just how badly does the Real Madrid boss need a left back? The Bernabeu outfit has some decent players in their squad right now in the shape of Marcelo (albeit a bit to greedy and attack minded) and the idea that they would allow a player who cost them £56m just a year ago as part of a deal to bring the former Arsenal man to the club is mindbogglingly stupid.
Granted, the Brazilian didn’t have the best of seasons but he was by no means terrible in a year that saw Real Madrid accumulate more points in a La Liga term than they have ever done before. Just because he didn’t score 33 goals like a certain Cristiano Ronaldo, it was assumed he was in some way a failure.
If this deal happens I will remove my knee caps with a spoon and eat them.
