Greek side Olympiakos have confirmed the signing of Liverpool winger Albert Riera.
The Spaniard has inked a four-year contract with Olympiakos, ending his two-year stay at Anfield, for a fee in the region of £5million.
Riera joined the Reds from Espanyol in 2008 for a fee of £8million and went on to make 40 league appearances, scoring three goals.
Last season, Riera fell out-of-favour with then-manager Rafa Benitez, with his last appearance for Liverpool coming in March.
“Olympiakos announce the acquisition of Liverpool’s Spanish international Albert Riera,” read a statement from the Greek club.
“The player has signed a four-year agreement.” (Sky Sports)
Roy Hodgson has made the right decision here. The Spanish international winger took flattering to deceive to a whole new level during his time at Anfield where you could count the amount of good games he had on the fingers of one hand.
The new Liverpool boss will now look to re-invest this money into bringing new additions to the club with a number of players being linked with a move to the club in recent weeks.
