Emirates boss ready to make big money move for Serbian international.
Arsene Wenger is ready to make a bid for £18m rated Serbian centre back Neven Subotic. Having stated his desire to bring in more defensive options and after failing to persuade Everton to sell him Phil Jagielka, the Gunners boss is now looking to the talented Borussia Dortmund to beef up his back line.
The towering 21 year old has been in impressive form in the Bundesliga for the past two seasons and has attracted a number of admirers and the Arsenal manager is known to be a big fan and is apparently willing to make a big money bid before the transfer window slams shut.
Having lost Sol Campbell, William Gallas and Mikel Silvestre and with Johan Djourou only recently coming back from long term injury Wenger needs to bring in defenders before the season gets under way.
He is unlikely to pursue two defensive targets, Ajax pair Gregory van der Wiel and Jan Vertonghen as both took part in Champions League action for the Dutch side last week therefore making a move to the Emirates less likely.
Having only signed a five year deal in 2009 Dortmund are thought to be only willing to sell Subotic to a club willing to fork out their full valuation of the player, thought to be as much as £18m.
